National retailer Prince Hypermart marked a significant milestone as it celebrated its 35th anniversary with key partners and suppliers at Radisson Blu Hotel on February 28, 2025. During a press conference held on the same day, the company catered to questions from the media and shared their upcoming projects to expand the Prince Hypermart brand.

Driven by its key philosophy of “Serving the underserved,” the company has revolutionized retail in Cebu by offering products at wholesale prices. Since its inception in 1990, Prince has envisioned itself providing value for money products and services to its customers by offering affordable goods to a wider base of Filipinos. Under the current leadership of the second-generation Go siblings (Rhea Janice, Rine Janine, and Rissa Julene), the company continues to uphold its mission: focusing on underserved communities across the Philippines.

Throughout its years of service, Prince Hypermart has opened various stores in far-flung provinces in the Visayas, Mindanao, and South Luzon, bringing in shopping convenience and livelihood opportunities to rural areas. It also caters to a wide network of sari-sari stores who are able to grow and sustain their business through the varied services and products offered at Prince. There are over 72 stores nationwide, featuring a diverse selection of grocery products, fresh and frozen food, general merchandise, and department store items, all at an affordable price.

To honor its legacy of empowering small communities, Prince Hypermart has taken its commitment to community development to new heights by partnering with banks and fintech companies to enhance financial inclusivity in the various regions they operate. These partnerships have provided essential financial services, not only benefiting individual consumers but also local businesses, including resellers and wholesalers.

The company’s vision in empowering local communities has received national and international recognition. In September 2024, Prince Hypermart was honored at the seventh Asean Inclusive Business Forum in Lao PDR for its contributions to providing economic opportunities and support for underprivileged Filipinos at the base of the economic pyramid.

To mark its 35th anniversary, Prince Hypermart has planned a series of initiatives throughout 2025 to further enhance its services and better serve its customers. Rina Janine Go, chief merchandising, marketing and distribution officer of Prince Hypermart, shared that the company has so much in store and is gearing itself up to extend its helping hand to more underprivileged Filipinos. She also expressed her gratitude to the company’s key partners and supplies who’ve been with them throughout the years.

We are gearing up for a busy year as we continue improving our offerings to our customers. We believe that a great shopping experience and attractive livelihood opportunities should not be restricted to those living in urban areas,”
Go said.

“In the rural areas where most of our stores are in, we want to be their go-to partner, their go-to modern palengke, go-to anything and everything of our customers and partners. To continue this mission, we begin by honoring the trade partners and suppliers who have tirelessly worked with us and have been with us on this incredible journey," Go added.

This year the company announced its ambitious plans for the year ahead: the opening of six new stores and the expansion of its distribution network. In addition, the company has recently opened its expanded distribution center in Buenavista, Agusan del Norte in Northern Mindanao. A bigger distribution center is also set to open in Cebu this year, followed by another in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental in 2026.

With its commitment to expansion and bringing the unique brand of retail to more underserved Filipinos, Prince Hypermart continues to champion the underprivileged and underserved population across the country. (SPONSORED CONTENT)
