Female OFWs in Central Visayas receive P230,000 financial aid

THE Department of Migrant Workers in Central Visayas (DMW 7) awarded P230,000 in financial assistance to returning female overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in the region on Monday, March 17, 2025.

The assistance was given as part of the Balik Pinay, Balik Hanapbuhay (BPBH) Program.

The aid distribution was conducted simultaneously nationwide in celebration of National Women’s Month, according to DMW 7 in a statement released on Tuesday, March 18, 2025.

The BPBH Program provides livelihood grants to help female OFWs start or sustain their own businesses.

OIC Regional Director Maria Eloida Cantona expressed appreciation to partner agencies, including the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) 7, Department of Manpower Development and Placement-Peso Cebu City, Peso Carcar City, and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (Owwa) 7, for their support in implementing the program.

One of the beneficiaries, Teofila Aras from Carcar City, Cebu, plans to use her grant to start a school bag and garment tailoring business.

She thanked DMW and Owwa for their assistance throughout her journey as an OFW. (CDF)
