A HUGE fire struck a furniture company located on Tac-an Road, Barangay Talamban, Cebu City, early morning on Thursday, April 10, 2025, leaving behind an estimated damage of more than P19 million.

The blaze, which began past 3 a.m, primarily affected the company’s warehouse, which housed a significant amount of raw materials. These materials included wood, thinner and paint, which are believed to have contributed to the fire’s rapid spread and intensity.

According to SFO2 Wendell Villanueva, spokesperson for the Cebu City Fire Station, the fire alarm was received at 3:19 a.m.

Due to the escalating situation and the presence of highly flammable materials, the fire was raised to a third alarm status by 4:14 a.m.. This prompted the Cebu City Fire Station to request assistance from neighboring fire departments to combat the extensive blaze.

Firefighters managed to bring the fire under control by 7:16 a.m. and declared it completely extinguished at 10:47 a.m. This indicates that firefighting operations lasted for over seven hours.

Authorities said no injuries were sustained as a result of the fire and no adjacent residential properties were affected. The Cebu City Fire Station is currently conducting a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the fire. / JDG
