THREE individuals were arrested during a buy-bust conducted by the Toledo City Police Station at 2:02 a.m. Monday, May 26, 2025, in Barangay Carmen, Toledo City.
Illegal drugs and a firearm were seized in the operation led by Police Lieutenant Colonel Wilfredo Alarcon Jr.
The arrested suspects were identified as Dennis Tura, 34, of Sitio Harden, Barangay Carmen — the target of the buy-bust — and his associate Harazem Navarro, 34, of Sitio Bawod, Barangay Don Juan Climaco Sr., Toledo City.
The two were caught with several sachets of shabu weighing 0.54 grams and valued at P3,672.
Also arrested was Janrey Rosal Ferrer, 26, of Carbon Barracks, Barangay Ermita, Cebu City, but currently residing in Barangay Cantabaco, Toledo City. He was found with a sachet of shabu and a firearm tucked in his waistband.
According to Alarcon, Tura and Navarro were together during the drug transaction and were caught with the illegal drugs. Ferrer, who happened to be in the area, was frisked and was also found in possession of shabu and a firearm.
The police had been monitoring Tura and Navarro even before the elections, after their names surfaced in connection with illegal drug activities.
“Ato na ni sila nga na monitor sa wala pa ang election, kay na busy man ang atong mga personnel nga gi deploy sa mga eskwelahan mao to na langay. Ganinang kaadlawon na transact sa atong personnel mao to nga nakuhaan nato og shabu unya kining usa, naa ra pud sa lugar atong gi sita. Nakuhaan sad nato siya og shabu ug armas,” said Alarcon.
(We had been monitoring them prior to the elections, but our personnel were occupied with school deployment duties. That’s why the operation was delayed. Early this morning, our personnel finally transacted with them and recovered shabu. Ferrer was also in the area, and when approached, was found with shabu and a firearm.)
The Toledo City police are now conducting a deeper investigation on Ferrer to determine whether he is the supplier of illegal drugs to Tura and Navarro.
Tura was previously jailed for a murder case and had just recently been released, while Navarro had also been imprisoned for drug-related charges and is currently on probation. Both, according to Alarcon, are known criminals. (AYB)
