ITALIAN brake systems manufacturer Brembo chose Cebu as the host city for its first Southeast Asia Customer Conference, signaling confidence in the Philippine market’s potential.

The summit, held on July 14, 2025, brought together about 100 participants from across the region. This event highlights Brembo’s strategic effort to strengthen distributor relationships and expand its presence in the growing automotive aftermarket, particularly in the Southern Philippines.

The decision to hold the annual gathering in the Philippines, a change from its 2024 location in Hanoi, Vietnam, reflects Brembo’s increased regional engagement.

Valerie Bangayan, director at BSB Junrose emphasized the event’s importance.

“This marks a strong vote of confidence from Brembo. It reflects the brand’s belief in Asia’s growth and in the Philippines’ strategic role within it,” Bangayan said.

She added that aligning on safety, performance and education is urgent to deliver premium brake systems to Filipino motorists.

BSB Junrose, a major Southeast Asian partner for Brembo, has helped accelerate the brand’s reach since officially onboarding with Brembo in 2023. The Philippine distributor operates four offices and four warehouses, serving more than 1,000 customers nationwide.

According to Bangayan, brake system sales show momentum, especially in Metro Manila and Cebu, with an increasing push into Visayas and Mindanao.

“Cebu has become a critical node in our southern expansion strategy. We are seeing rising demand for high-performance brake systems across the region,” Bangayan explained. She attributed this growth to trust in product quality and strong relationships with mechanics and dealers.

The Cebu conference also addressed persistent industry challenges, specifically the rise of counterfeit parts. Bangayan emphasized the importance of product authenticity and safety.

“Fake brake parts can endanger lives. That is why we are investing in training, dealer engagement and workshop education so that the market understands the value of genuine, high-quality components,” she said.

The 2025 event reflects Brembo’s shift from simply supplying parts to offering complete brake system solutions. Significant investments support this strategic evolution, such as its new 40 million euro motorcycle brake plant in Rayong, Thailand.

“For us, this event is more than a showcase. It is a commitment to long-term partnership and raising the bar for the aftermarket ecosystem in the Philippines,” Bangayan said.

Founded in 1961, Brembo is a global leader in high-performance brake systems, supplying top automakers and elite motorsport teams worldwide. / KOC
