EIGHT teams are set to clash in the exciting three-day Congressman Frasco Cup basketball tournament at the New Panphil Frasco Gym in Lilo-an, Cebu from March 20 to 22, 2025.
Organized by Frasco Sports as part of Congressman Duke Frasco’s sports program, the tournament will feature teams from Lilo-an, Compostela, Danao, Carmen, Catmon, Sogod, Cebu City, and Lapu-Lapu City.
Due to time constraints, the tournament will follow a knockout format, beginning with the elimination round and culminating in the finals.
The ranking system is based on the previous Open tournament, where Lapu-Lapu City triumphed over Lilo-an in a thrilling overtime finish.
Additionally, the rules require that all players must be registered residents of the municipality they represent.
The champion team will receive a cash prize of P200,000, while the runners-up will take home P100,000.
Eliminated teams will receive consolation prizes of P20,000 for those reaching the second round and P10,000 for those making it to the first round.
“We only have 8 teams due to limited time. But we are excited for this since the last one we did was very successful,” said Ian Callet, the tournament’s technical director.
With Callet in Frasco Sports are Kath Jumapao, who heads the Finance group, and Jover Pisao, who leads the Security and Execution team. / JBM
