From Fairest to Fearless: Disney's 'Snow White' will surprise you
Published on

No poisoned apple could ever break a heart filled with love, courage and kindness. In Disney’s newest live-action “Disney’s Snow White,” the classic fairytale takes on a deeper meaning, one that speaks to young girls dreaming of who they want to become, not just a princess, but a leader of her own story.

On March 16, 2025, an exclusive advance screening gathered media, influencers and content creators for a first look at this bold new take on “Snow White.” Inside Cinema 6 at SM Seaside City Cebu, the audience watched as she stepped beyond the storybook, no longer just the fairest, but fearless.

A live orchestra filled the venue with Disney nostalgia; the melodies setting the perfect scene. Cosplayers roamed the event, bringing Snow White and the Evil Queen to life, one embodying kindness, the other radiating wicked charm. Guests were handed red headbands, a nod to Snow White’s iconic look, while mirror photobooths and a charming cottage core-inspired setup made everyone feel like they had stepped into the storybook themselves.

‘Snow White’ like never before

Rachel Zegler, known for her powerful performance in “West Side Story,” takes on the role of Snow White with a mix of warmth and quiet strength. This time, she’s not just the kind-hearted princess who sings to birds, she’s someone with a destiny bigger than herself. And the music is the kind of songs that get stuck in your head, the ones that make you feel something deep in your chest.

“It gave me the magical feeling I had when I was a kid,” shared Cebuana content creator Leigh Ong during SM Seaside’s post-movie interview.

“It will really take you back to your childhood memories,” added Cebuana model and content creator Gab Brañanola.

And then there’s Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen. She swaps her “Wonder Woman” armor for something darker, but her presence is just as commanding. The Evil Queen’s smile on the big screen hypnotizes viewers just like what she did to the people around her in the story. The way she moves, the way she speaks, it’s no wonder Snow White’s world trembles in her presence. And while we all know she hands over the poisoned apple, viewers will be surprised that this adaptation gives her something more — a villainous song with an irresistible rhythm, a glimpse into why she does what she does.

This isn’t just a fairytale about good triumphing over evil. It’s about standing up for yourself, about embracing the qualities that make you who you are. “Disney’s Snow White” is still the girl who believes in kindness, but she’s no longer waiting for fate to decide her future, she’s taking charge.
