GLOBE has completed the transfer of its final 121 towers to Unity Digital Infrastructure for P1.45 billion, finalizing its landmark sale and leaseback deal with the tower company. This brings the total number of towers transferred to 447 since 2023.
With this, Globe has now turned over 6,849 out of 7,506 towers, generating P87.9 billion in proceeds, representing 91.2 percent of the total deal.
The transaction enhances Globe’s financial flexibility, allowing it to optimize capital structure, manage leverage and reinvest in network expansion.
Globe chief finance officer Juan Carlo Puno called it a “significant milestone,” following the company’s 100 percent tower transfer to Frontier Towers last year.
Globe president and chief executive officer Ernest Cu emphasized the deal’s impact on improving nationwide connectivity, while Unity chief executive Robin Patrick Sarmiento highlighted the company’s role in supporting the government’s common tower program. / KOC
