CEBU Gov. Pamela Baricuatro issued a public warning on Saturday, July 26, 2025, cautioning contractors, businessmen and the general public against individuals falsely claiming to represent her in business transactions involving government projects.
In an official statement posted on her Facebook account, Baricuatro clarified that she has not authorized any person or group to act on her behalf in securing or facilitating contracts, especially in infrastructure, quarrying and Small Town Lottery operations.
“I would like to clarify that I have not authorized any group of people or individuals to represent me in any business dealings,” a portion of her statement reads.
“I also do not seek or accept any shares or ‘SOPs’ related to contracts in infrastructure, quarrying, or STL. I will not engage in such arrangements,” the post further said.
She stressed that all government projects must strictly undergo the proper processes through the bids and awards committee, and that transactions must remain transparent and accessible to the public.
Baricuatro also urged businessmen and stakeholders to refrain from giving money or entertaining any individuals claiming to represent her or soliciting favors, warning that such persons are not in any way connected to her office.
“I remain committed to my principles of transparency, accountability and good governance,” she said in the same post.
The governor’s warning reinforces her administration’s ongoing drive to combat corruption and promote ethical practices in government dealings in Cebu Province. / CDF
