BUDGET carrier Cebu Pacific (CEB) cancelled dozens of domestic and international flights as heavy rains and flooding disrupted operations across several key routes.
In two advisories released as of 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., CEB said more than 30 flights scheduled for July 22, 2025 were grounded, affecting routes between Manila and destinations including Legazpi, Cebu, Cagayan de Oro, Iloilo, Bacolod, Tacloban, Davao and Zamboanga.
Flights to and from international cities such as Hanoi and Guangzhou were also cancelled.
The cancellations come amid forecasts of continuous torrential rains and widespread flooding in parts of the country, prompting CEB to issue a warning of potential further delays and disruptions in the coming days.
Affected passengers have been notified via email and offered three options via the airline’s Manage Booking portal. These are free rebooking within 30 days of the original flight without fare difference; travel fund credit, which can be used for future bookings or add-ons and full refund of the ticket price.
CEB also announced flexible options for travelers flying to or from Manila between July 22 and 25, including free rebooking or conversion to travel fund up to two hours before scheduled departure.
The airline strongly advised passengers not to proceed to the airport unless they have confirmed flights that are operating as scheduled.
Travelers were urged to check real-time flight status on the Cebu Pacific website or mobile app, and to ensure their contact details are updated for email and SMS alerts.
“We are working closely with airport authorities and our operational teams to mitigate the impact as much as possible,” the airline said in a statement.
Cebu Pacific said updates would be provided as needed and advised passengers to reach out via its website’s virtual assistant or official social media channels for further assistance.
Another budget carrier AirAsia Philippines also encouraged guests on Tuesday to stay updated on their flight status via airasia.com/flightstatus.
It asked its guests to be at the airport, earlier than usual, at least three hours for domestic and four hours for international flights, and be guided by road closures and flooded areas as advised by their respective local government units. The airline also warned of some flight adjustments.
According to aviation weather experts, this weather condition in Manila and some parts of the Philippines may persist throughout the week. / KOC
