THERE’S a new subcompact royalty in town. Hyundai rolls out a brand-new model that is just as impressive on the inside as it is on the outside: the all-new Reina.

Last March 8, Hyundai introduced the Reina, along with three other vehicles, namely the Kona, Santa Fe and Accent, at The Gallery area of Ayala Center Cebu.

With Hyundai’s Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design DNA, the Reina is undoubtedly a head turner — a premium touch to an economical car. But the South Korean car manufacturer made sure this brand-new model has more to boast than just sleek aesthetics. Apt for a car whose name means queen in Spanish.

The new subcompact sedan runs on a 1.4L gasoline engine, with either five-speed manual transmission or four-speed automatic transmission — making city driving easy and efficient for both newbies and experienced drivers.

Although compact in size, the 2,570mm-wheelbase gives this five-seater vehicle more than enough space for passengers to sit comfortably.

Passengers aside, the Reina also has ample trunk space — 475 liters of cargo—to store luggage and other bulky items to bring on one’s journey.

On the dashboard are strikingly modern AC vents, an analog tachometer and a digital gauge for fuel and engine temperature. The windows and side mirrors are also power-controlled with buttons located in the center console for both the driver and front passenger to easily access.

On safety matters, there are SRS airbags to protect passengers during sudden impact and the Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) in the event of swerving.

As a well-equipped vehicle selling for a highly competitive price range, the Reina is a strong contender among its rivals in the market.

To see the Reina up close, visit Hyundai’s showroom in Cebu at 21 A.S. Fortuna St., Banilad, Mandaue City.
