JERALD Into continues his quest for glory in the Riyadh Season World Boxing Council (WBC) Boxing Grand Prix super-lightweight tournament as he takes on fellow unbeaten prospect Sanatali Toltayev in the Round of 16 on Friday, June 20, 2025, at the Global Theater Boulevard in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
In the Round of 32 last April 18, the 25-year-old Into outclassed American Ahmad Muhammad Jones by a convincing unanimous decision. He got the nod of all three judges with scores of 59-55, 58-56, and 58-56. Into is the last standing Filipino fighter in the Grand Prix.
Into earned a slot in the super-lightweight tournament after winning the WBC Asia lightweight belt via a sixth-round stoppage of veteran Marjohn Yap last year.
On the other hand, Toltayev also had an impressive performance in his Round of 32 fight. The 25-year-old Kazakh dropped Venezuelan contender German Brochero twice en route to ending his night at the 2:26 mark of the sixth round.
Though just having three pro bouts, Toltayev is an experienced amateur with 74 bouts in the unpaid ranks.
Into is 12-0 with nine knockouts, while Toltayev is 3-0 with two knockouts.
The other seven bouts in the super-lightweight tournament are Alan David Crenz (15-1, 14 KOs) against Carlos Utria (10-0, 10 KOs), Ntethelelo Nkosi (8-2, 5 KOs) versus Ju Wu (15-1-2, 3 KOs), Danylo Lozan (13-0, 8 KOs) against Eric Basran (8-0, 3 KOs), Misael Cabrera (16-2-1, 11 KOs) versus Orlando Barajas (8-0, 2 KOs), Mujibillo Turnsonov (6-0, 2 KOs) against Alan Ezequiel Dutra (15-0, 9 KOs), Bartlomiej Przybyla (9-1, 3 KOs) versus Spencer Wilcox (11-0, 5 KOs), and Fiorenzo Prioli (10-0, 5 KO) against Efe Derin Konuk (13-1-1, 7 KOs). / EKA
