THE Cebu Classic suffered another defeat, falling to the equally-struggling Sarangani Grippers Motorcycle Tire, 119-95, in the ongoing Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) 2025 Season last Thursday, June 5, at the Cuneta Astrodome.

The defeat was the third consecutive loss for the Cebu Classic, who played with only eight players after several key men left the team.

It was posted on social media that the players’ departure stemmed from unpaid salaries for two months.

Cebu-based Mike Reyes also resigned from his coaching position with the team.

The Cebu Classic, with most of the remaining players homegrown, is being led by Jeco Bancale, who scored 22 points, grabbed eight rebounds, dished out seven assists, and had two steals.

Former University of San Carlos Warriors standout Dolan Adlawan added 15 points and five rebounds, while Brylee Ivan Meca contributed 14 points.

Jimenez, the MPBL’s only quadruple-double record holder, tallied 23 points, including seven three-pointers beyond the rainbow territory and grabbed 11 rebounds.

He also had seven assists and four steals, sharing the best player of the game award with Destacamiento, who scored 21 points (13 in the first quarter), grabbed eight rebounds and dished out five assists. / JBM
