MANDAUE City Mayor Thadeo “Jonkie” Ouano has ordered a city-wide crackdown on illegal activities following the arrest of nine Chinese nationals suspected of running a scam hub in Barangay Alang-alang.
The local chief executive issued an executive order mandating thorough inspections within all subdivisions to prevent similar occurrences. He emphasized the need for proactive collaboration between barangays, subdivision administrators and the local government unit (LGU).
“Inform the barangays about any irregularities in your subdivisions. The barangays themselves should also assist the LGU. We all need to help monitor. If something happens in one barangay, it affects the whole city,” Ouano said
He urged the public to report any suspicious activities involving foreigners to the Criminal Investigaton and Detection Group (CIDG).
Why the raid matters
The suspects may be part of a broader syndicate using gated subdivisions to hide illegal operations, authorities said.
Human trafficking charges are underway; digital evidence could reveal more.
