THE Philippines, like much of the Northern Hemisphere, observes the Summer Solstice on Saturday, June 21, 2025, an annual astronomical event that brings the longest day of the year.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) stated on Facebook that the solstice happens when the sun reaches its highest and most northerly point in the sky.

In Metro Manila, sunrise occurred at 5:28 a.m., with sunset expected at 6:29 p.m., providing 13 hours and one minute of the daylight.

Residents are encouraged to utilize the extended daylight, spend time outdoors, watch the sunrise or sunset, or connect with nature.

The next solstice event, the Winter Solstice, will bring the shortest day of the year in December. (DPC)
