LOGISTICS and delivery platform Lalamove has officially launched ride-hailing services in Cebu, offering a two percent commission rate for partner drivers.

The expansion aims to provide convenient, affordable and safe transportation options in Cebu City, Mandaue City, Lapu-Lapu City, and the rest of Cebu province, strengthening the region’s growing economic and tourism sectors.

Lalamove targets to onboard at least 1,500 drivers with hatchbacks, sedans and multi-purpose vehicles in Cebu during the first half of 2025 to address increasing commuter demand.

Lalamove Philippines managing director Djon Nacario highlighted the urgent need for enhanced transport services in Cebu, which attracts over two million local and international tourists annually.

“The rapid economic growth of Cebu is undeniable, especially as it continues to attract millions of visitors. This fuels the need for better transportation, particularly during peak hours and holiday seasons. Lalamove Ride’s entry into Cebu is a direct response to this demand, offering safe, convenient and cost-effective transport solutions while also easing traffic congestion,” Nacario said.

Boosting driver livelihoods

The expansion is not only focused on commuters but also presents a lucrative opportunity for partner drivers.

With a 98 percent take-home rate, verified drivers can maximize their earnings from both ride-hailing and delivery bookings on a single app.

“In line with our commitment to community support, we want to help improve Cebu’s transportation system while also providing flexible livelihood opportunities for drivers,” Nacario added.

While drivers cannot service passengers and deliver packages simultaneously, they can plan schedules and routes strategically to maximize their earnings. For example, sedan drivers who handle deliveries in high-demand areas like Mandaue City, Talisay City and Cebu City can adjust their schedules to accommodate ride-hailing requests.

Lalamove has been operating in Cebu since 2018, initially catering to on-demand delivery services. With its new ride-hailing service, the company said it is expanding its commitment to convenience, affordability and safety for Cebuano commuters.

“Beyond ride-hailing, our goal is to enhance Cebu’s transportation network, ensuring people get to their destinations with ease,” Nacario said. / KOC
