CITY Hall employees and officials in Lapu-Lapu City now face strict administrative penalties and possible criminal charges if caught engaging in online gambling.

This warning follows the issuance of a new directive by Mayor Ma. Cynthia “Cindi” Chan, who signed Memorandum 2025-032 on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, imposing a total ban on online gambling for all Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) personnel and local government unit officials.

Chan said public servants must uphold the highest standards of integrity, discipline, and professionalism.

“Public service demands integrity, discipline, and undivided commitment — values that must never be compromised by distractions such as online gambling,” said Chan.

She added that violators will be held accountable.

“We will not tolerate any act that undermines the sanctity of public service,” Chan said.

The new directive aligns with the DILG’s Memorandum Circular 2025-082. (DPC)
