LAPU-LAPU City marked ‘Pride Month’ with a vibrant ‘Pride Walk,’ attended by around 500 individuals from different barangays including residents of Olango Island.

The march held on Saturday, June 21, 2025 was part of the city’s efforts to promote equality, inclusivity and solidarity with members the LGBTQAI+ community.

It was organized by Alive Lapu-Lapu, a non-government organization (NGO) and outgoing Mayor, congressman-elect Junard Chan.

Justin Chan, Alive Federation president emphasizing the importance of respecting and promoting the rights of the LGBTQAI+ community.

Waiving colorful rainbow flags, city officials including mayor-elect Cynthia Chan joined the parade to show their support for the LGBT community.

“Their presence was a powerful statement of solidarity and acceptance,” said Ramon Berdon, Alive Federation officer.

The Pride Walk, also known as the Parade of Colors, had participants in vibrant costumes carrying placards with messages advocating equality and acceptance.

During a program held at the Lapu-Lapu City auditorium, the “most festive” group was awarded. The award went to Barangay Buaya which stood out for its creativity — its second award in two consecutive years.
