A TAXI driver was found dead with gunshot wounds inside his parked vehicle in Sitio Ka Isko, Barangay Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City, early Wednesday morning, July 2, 2025.
According to a report from the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office, a concerned citizen reported the incident around 6:05 a.m. Police responders arrived at the scene and confirmed that the driver was already lifeless inside a white public taxi.
The driver sustained two gunshot wounds—one to the head and another near the shoulder. Two spent shells from a .45 caliber firearm were recovered near the vehicle.
Initial investigation revealed that the driver was shot around 3 a.m. The suspect is believed to have posed as a passenger, based on the activated taxi meter, although the vehicle had not moved.
Police suspect robbery as the motive, as the driver’s personal belongings—including his wallet, mobile phone, and cash—were missing.
Personnel from the Scene of the Crime Operatives (Soco) processed the area between 6:40 a.m. and 7:50 a.m.
Authorities are continuing their investigation to identify the suspect. (DPC)
