On May 13, 2023, the Queen Mother of Cebu Organization and Chameleon Models of Cebu held a press conference at Café Maria in Tuyan, Naga City, Cebu to introduce its 25 mothers vying for the title of “Queen Mother of Cebu.” Six runners-up will also receive titles inspired by the characteristics every mother has: Fortitude, Compassion, Influence, Devotion, Courage, and Grace.
This pageant honors moms for their contributions to society and the family, and for the candidates to enjoy themselves and get some “Me Time.” It also aims to foster genuine sisterhood among the candidates, who are between 21 to 60 years old.
During the press conference, the candidates engaged in a simple question-and-answer segment. Myth Anisca Maguate from Cebu City received the title “Darling of the Press”; a non-bearing award that recognizes her winning answer to the question, “What is a seventh characteristic that you would add to the six titles that identify the characteristics of a Queen Mother?”
She answered: “Queen Mother of Cebu Resiliency,” because she believes resilience is the most important factor she possesses as a mother. She continued: “Being the center of the family, I don’t only focus on my problems but also stand up and resolve my family’s problems. If a mother is resilient, focused, and determined, no one shall come in her way, and she will be successful.”
The Queen Mother of Cebu 2023 pageant will be held at the IEC Convention Center, Cardinal Rosales Ave., Cebu City, on May 21, and will be hosted by Michelle Iligan. The crown winner will be the Philippines’ representative for the Mrs. United Nations pageant, to be held in New Delhi, India, this November.
