CEBU staged another milestone when it welcomed Hungary to its diplomatic corps.

H.E Dr. Jozsef Bencze, Ambassador of Hungary, installed Enrilen Joy Benedicto-Tan as the new Consul a.h. of Hungary.

The highlights of the event were the signing of the protocol order and exchange of documents; presentation of patent and exequator signed by President Rodrigo Duterte of the Republic of the Philippines.

The ceremonial toast was done by Ambassador Francisco L. Benedicto assisted by Nicole Sanchez, alternate protocol officer of the Department of Foreign Affairs. The diplomatic circle which witnessed the event was led by Honorary Consuls Enrison Benedicto (Belgium), Jose Sala (Sweden), Grand Benedicto (Romania), Emily Chioson (Israel), Glenn Loop (USA) and Enrique Benedicto (Belgium).

Consul Enrilen is well known in the socio-civic and business circles, a businesswoman in real estate, construction, business and agricultural firms; a staunch partner in arts and tourism, being a gracious daughter of Consul ad honorem of Belgium Enrique and Helen Benedicto; niece of Ambassador Francisco Benedicto and sister of Belgian Consul Enrison Benedicto and Romanian Consul Grand Benedicto; cousin of Israel Consul Emily B. Chioson, married to Consul of Portugal Samuel Chioson. The family has become a matrix of cross-cultural linkages.

Hungary is a Central European country known for its long history of art, music and trade innovation, research and education. We look forward to cooperative exchanges, with Consul Enrilen as the initiator to develop deeper relations between Cebu and the Visayas, and Hungary.
