Theater is life; spices of “sweetness and light.”

Since childhood, I have always loved singing, acting on stage. That is why I majored in speech and drama and integrated these in my English literature courses. Cebu has a wealth of thespians honed in the academe and theater institutions.

In Cebu, schools like the Colegio de la Inmaculada Concepción, St. Theresa’s College, University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R), University of Cebu and University of San Carlos have integrated courses in arts and theater in the English courses.

From the academe, theater arts and culture found their home in the Arts Council of Cebu, among other related foundations.

What happens after school? After theater experiences? I am in touch with a few alumnae who have become hands-on mothers to their children until they grow up. And they all love their transition from the stage to parenting here in the Philippines and across the globe.

“In my Diary” cites some of the alumni of the USJ-R Dramatics and Cultural Ensemble who are raising and rearing equally talented children.
