“Thank God, always.” This is what John Rolie Pescador, owner of Unlisted Burgers, said during the interview with SunStar LIVE! Rolie shared that he started the business from a place of passion and determination. “During online class, I’d be flipping burgers on the side.”

He started his business while going to school as an aircraft maintenance technology student, and said it started as a side hustle to make burgers, and he further developed it into a full-fledged business.

Unlisted Burgers started in his house in Consolacion, Cebu, and during that time he could only cook two burgers in a row. So if the order book would pile up, his customers would have to wait for a considerable amount of time.

Nonetheless, the burgers were so appetizing that the order book would still get full. Rolie would take the orders, prepare the burgers, and deliver them as well. At a certain point the workload would get quite hectic. He was a lone wolf on a mission to deliver burgers.

At that moment he knew he needed backup for the business, so he called on his cousins for help. A passion which started in Consolacion, slowly made its way to Canduman, Mandaue City (across Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu), and then his latest branch in Banilad, Cebu City (right after Phoenix gas station).

These two store branches are open from 10:30 a.m. to 12 midnight daily. Rolie said people prefer the burger as a snack, so around 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. the people would slowly start to arrive, usually in large friend groups. Unlisted Burgers is also available in Grabfood and Foodpanda, for those people at home craving burgers.

A lot of people were intrigued with the business and tried to ask about opening a franchise, Rolie believed that he would want to master the business first before he would allow people to franchise. He believes that quality is what matters, and that it’s not just about selling burgers to people for profit but most importantly making friends with the customers. This makes things more worthwhile and fulfilling in the end.

Try the signature Cheeseburger and Mozzarella Cheeseburger, and for hotdog sandwich lovers, there is something for you as well with their classic hotdog sandwich and bacon sandwich. Pair it with your soft drink of choice, and you can never go wrong.

All in all, Rolie believes that a business should not be centered in profit but in building up community, and that it should be driven by passion and not greed. This is the fundamental character of Unlisted Burgers. Humility among all things and placing God in the middle of success always. As Rolie would say “Thank God, always.”
