Who would have thought that coffee and cars would go together? As part of GlobalStar Corp.’s 8th year anniversary, Mercedes-Benz Cebu helped introduce a fresh take on the traditional coffeehouse model: AMG Café.
AMG Café stands for “Aufrecht, Melcher and Großaspach,” an independent division of Mercedes-Benz with engines handcrafted by their engineers bearing the famous “One Man, One Engine” philosophy.
On July 25, 2023, AMG Café by Steer&Stir opened its doors to the public. Located in the Mercedes-Benz showroom in Nivel Hills, Lahug, Cebu City, AMG Café aims to delight its customers with good food and good company.
Luxury and coffee
AMG Café holds a different concept than the original Steer&Stir branch, which targeted sports fans. Instead, AMG Café provides a more luxurious and laid-back atmosphere to appeal to the Mercedes-Benz clientele.
The café offers beverages such as hot and iced coffees, fruit teas and frappes. It also offers pastries such as cookies, croissants and muffins.
Symbol of resilience and community
Founded by Michael Jhaye “MJ” Jordan, Steer&Stir opened its first branch in Aldea Premier, Mandaue City during the pandemic.
With its interior design specially curated for basketball fans, Steer&Stir sought to be more than a go-to shop for a caffeine fix and instead became a safe space for enthusiasts of sports, cars and coffee.
It is a symbol of resilience, determination and the power of community.
Entrepreneurship and teamwork
Growing up, Jordan had an eye for business. During his high school days, his team would ace entrepreneurship tasks playing to their strengths.
For him, business relies on how one uses skills to advantage, and Steer&Stir is a testament to this belief. From a startup coffee shop in their subdivision in Mandaue, Steer&Stir has opened its second branch and continues to grow and satisfy its customers’ coffee cravings.
“The beauty of entrepreneurship,” Jordan said, “is that it is not a competition [...] That is the beauty of business; you get to work with people who are good at what they do.” According to him, one person cannot always be the best in everything, and that’s why teamwork is important.

As the new branch of Steer&Stir branches out under AMG Café, the organization aims to continuously drive its way to success. Centered on providing excellent customer service and the sense of community, Steer&Stir hopes to branch out and grow the business in different locations.
