A touch of Ireland has found its way to the heart of Cebu’s bustling Garden Row at IT Park. On August 8, 2025, The Celtic Bar and Restaurant opened its doors, welcoming guests to a space where tradition meets modern Cebuano flair.
Guests were greeted by warm, rich ironwood interiors, reminiscent of traditional Irish pubs, bringing a little corner of Ireland in the Queen City of the South. With the pub’s dim golden lighting, sturdy wooden accents, and a cozy layout creating an inviting atmosphere, you can be assured of a perfect setting from after-work drinks to weekend family dinners.
Owners John and Rogelie Morris envisioned The Celtic as more than just another bar in the city. “We noticed there weren’t many Irish pubs here,” shared John, who was born in Ireland and lived in Australia. “I wanted to share a part of my culture—one that celebrates good food, good drink, and good company.”
At the heart of their design lies the Triquetra, or “trinity knot,” a Celtic symbol embedded on the ground floor. Traced as far back as 1200 B.C., the triquetra reflects the interconnectedness of life and eternity. “Our two countries, Ireland and the Philippines, are made up of 95 percent Catholics,” John added. “That’s something that makes us feel connected.”
For Rogelie, the magic happens on the menu. “We wanted to blend Irish traditions with Cebuano hospitality,” she said. “We brainstormed with our chefs, picked iconic Irish dishes, and found ways to incorporate Cebuano flavors.” The result is a culinary balance: hearty Irish staples paired with the freshness and spice familiar to local taste buds.
Guests can expect more than just food. The Celtic’s signature drinks, like the floral yet potent Nephin Flower or the bold Mo Ghrá, are already earning praise for their unique flavors and satisfying kick. Of course, no Irish pub would be complete without Guinness. Creamy, smooth, and served just right for those who want to enjoy the quintessential Irish beer experience in the heart of Cebu.
Regular live band performances add a lively soundtrack to the evening, while the upstairs area offers a private space for events.
At The Celtic, sports fans are in for a treat. The bar and restaurant screens the biggest sports events across every season; from NBA and Premier League showdowns to NFL clashes, Champions League thrillers, Grand Slam Tennis, and PGA Golf tournaments. On top of that, UFC fights, as well as major boxing bouts and horse racing, are also featured regularly, all live on the big screen.
Whether you are hanging out with friends, debating over play scores, celebrating a photo-finish win, or cracking a cold one, The Celtic is your front-row seat to the thrilling world of sports.
Open daily from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 a.m., the kitchen serves hearty meals until 1:30 a.m., while the bar keeps the good times rolling until 2:30 a.m.
