The ultimate guide on where to brunch with your bunch in Cebu

Brunch is arguably the most delicious meal of the day, especially when paired with a cocktail or two.

From hit TV shows like “Gossip Girl” to “Gilmore Girls,” brunch is a tradition that has been featured in popular culture, capturing the beauty of languid weekend mornings where you enjoy a scrumptious spread of food and drinks typically with your friends.

Brunch staples include fun drink selections like espresso martinis or mimosas, as well as classic lemonade soda. These beverages are often paired with hearty meal choices such as waffles, fried eggs, French toast, and more. Since we’re Filipinos who can’t go a day without rice, a savory rice bowl is also a must-have option.

A number of brunch spots recently have taken the metro by storm. In anticipation of World Brunch Day (Sept. 17), here are four brunch places you can check out with your friends and family:

Calm Street

Located in the bustling business center of Bonifacio District, Calm Street exudes the aura of a New York City bistro joint, perfect for those who want to experience a little Manhattan vibe.

The restaurant specializes in combining the charm of a Big Apple bistro with local flair. One of its bestsellers is the Humba rice bowl, a Cebuano red braised pork belly dish topped with bok choy and fried egg. It also serves Shrimp Buns, a New York style hot dog sandwich substituted with shrimp rolls.

Its cocktail selection offers a wide array of choices—from its signature Calm Street Sangria to classic drinks such as Margarita and Cosmopolitan cocktails.

The restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily and is stationed in Bonifacio District, F. Cabahug St., Cebu City.

Dine

Dine, a brunch and bar establishment, located at Streetscape in Banilad, Cebu City, features modern twists on your comfort food, with a delightful blend of international flavors.

It is known for its heavenly Ube pancakes, and its best-selling chicken and waffles, and steak and eggs. Its cocktail selection is equally impressive with handcrafted creations that will perfectly complement your brunch experience.

Soon after it opened, the brunch spot immediately became an Insta-famous destination that boasts both alfresco and indoor dining spaces. It is the ultimate brunch spot to catch up with friends over a glass of its signature cranberry gin fizz or a good ol’ cup of coffee from The Good Cup Coffee Company.

Dine is open from 9 a.m. to 1 a.m. on weekdays, and 9 a.m. to 2 a.m. on weekends.

Tamp Cafe & Co.

Tamp Cafe & Co. is a sweet haven for sweet-tooth foodies. But it’s not just about sugar at Tamp, it also serves a variety of brunch options that strike a delicious balance.

From its Crab Omelette served with Thai Street cilantro sauce and paired with the house salad, to a healthier all-day breakfast selection like the Dark Yogurt Bowl, Tamp offers nothing short of a gastronomic brunch experience.

The café is also best known for its peso cake deal, which you can get after you order a meal and a drink. Now, that’s a perfect brunch combo!

Tamp Cafe & Co. has several branches around Cebu and is open from 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

Kermit’s

Originally a pastry shop, Kermit’s has now broadened its horizons by introducing a delectable weekend brunch menu. This new addition brings a fresh and flavorful start to your day, alongside its signature pastries and sweet treats.

Its new brunch menu introduces the “Bantayan Breakfast,” a delightful spread that showcases the best of the island’s local ingredients. Moreover, Kermit’s also added its tapa bowl, bacon steak and panini to the menu. This will be served with a complementary Americano; What more could you want from brunch?

Kermit’s is located in Bonifacio District, F. Cabahug St., Cebu City and is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays, and 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends.

Remember brunch is not just a meal, it’s a state of mind. So gather your friends and family and enjoy the delightful conversations and “noms” brunch brings.

Happy brunching!
