WORLD-rated prospect Kenneth Llover faces his toughest test to date against two-division world champion Luis Concepcion in a 10-round main event of Kameda Promotion and Gerrypens Promotions’ “Mano A Mano: Philippines vs. Panama” Sunday, Aug. 17, 2025, at the Windford Resort and Casino in Manila.
The 22-year-old Llover failed to make the bantamweight limit on his first attempt, tipping the scales at 118.4 pounds. After being given two hours to shed the excess weight, he made weight on his second try at 117.8 pounds. Concepcion easily made weight at 117 pounds.
Llover is currently one of the Philippines’ budding young stars. He’s ranked No. 8 by the International Boxing Federation (IBF) and No. 14 by the World Boxing Council (WBC) in the bantamweight division.
Llover was impressive in his last outing, winning the Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) bantamweight title with a first-round knockout of Japanese Keita Kurihara on March 24 in Japan.
On the other hand, the 39-year-old Concepcion was once one of the best fighters in the late 2000s and most of the last decade. He’s the former World Boxing Association (WBA) flyweight and WBC super-flyweight champion. He has beaten the likes of Hernan “Tyson” Marquez, Denkaosan Kaovichit, Manuel Vargas, and Kohei Kono.
Concepcion has been out of the ring for almost two years since losing to David Cuellar by an eighth-round stoppage in 2023.
Llover is 14-0 with nine knockouts, while Concepcion is 40-11 with 29 knockouts.
In the undercard, Ken Danila (5-0, 4 KOs) faces off with John Lawrence Ordonio (9-9-1, 5 KOs), Perlito Exclamada Jr. (4-0-1, 1 KO) slugs it out with Ronald Bulacan (2-2, 1 KO), and Teodoro Atienza Jr. (2-1, 2 KOs) is up against Sherwin Lombres (3-3-1, 1 KO). / EKA
