HIGHLY-REGARDED 22-year-old prospect Kenneth Llover has taken a huge step in his career by signing a promotional contract with Kameda Promotions.
Llover will now be co-promoted by Gerry Peñalosa’s Gerrypens Promotions and Kameda Promotions for his next three fights.
“This is a big step for his career and great opportunity,” Peñalosa told SunStar Cebu.
Peñalosa went to Tokyo to seal the deal with fellow world champion-turned-promoter Koki Kameda.
Llover was immediately given a stiff assignment in his first fight under Kameda Promotions. He will take on Mexican boxer Christian Medina on Sept. 20, 2025, in Nagoya. The match, a title eliminator for the No. 2 spot in the International Boxing Federation (IBF) bantamweight rankings, marks the biggest fight of Llover’s young budding career.
Llover’s star potential was on full display in his last two fights in Japan, where he delivered impressive first-round stoppages against Tulio Dekanarudo and seasoned fighter Keita Kurihara.
Llover is currently ranked No. 11 by IBF and No. 15 by the World Boxing Council (WBC).
A win over Medina could be Llover’s quick ticket to a world title shot.
Medina is currently ranked No. 1 by the World Boxing Association (WBA) and No. 7 by the IBF.
The 25-year-old Medina has won his last three fights since losing to current IBF bantamweight champion Ryosuke Nishida by unanimous decision in 2023. He is coming off a fifth-round stoppage of previously-unbeaten Alexis Molina to win the vacant World Boxing Organization (WBO) Latino bantamweight strap.
Llover is 14-0 with nine knockouts, while Medina is 24-4 with 17 knockouts.
