OVER 1,500 students from Labogon National High School (LNHS) competed in the annual Intramural Games, which officially opened on July 31, 2025, at the school gymnasium.

The event, organized by the Music, Arts, Physical Education, and Health (MAPEH) department, was held under the theme “Nurturing Champions for Life: Strengthening Values, Wellness and Excellence Through Sports.”

“The purpose of Intramural games is to aid students in developing their social skills, promote sportsmanship and teamwork, and provide recreation and stress relief,” said Joan P. Martinez, the MAPEH Coordinator at LNHS.

She added that the games are a way to give students opportunities to enhance their connectedness, stay physically fit and healthy and learn the values of fairness, respect, and discipline.

The opening ceremony was highlighted by the Mr. and Ms. Intramurals 2025 pageant, which was hosted by Gin Ryan Torrefiel and Mariecris S. Dolino. Keziah Rob Arbe A. Pontillas (Grade 10 Thessalonia) was crowned Mr. Intramurals and also won Best in Sports Wear while Crishia Mae B. Bensing (Grade 10 Bethany) was named Ms. Intramurals 2025.

Other winners included:

First Runner-Up: Jandrian R. Lagrada (Grade 9 Capernaum) and Jillian Roa (Grade 8 Mt. Carmel)

Second Runner-Up: Jhasper R. Engid (Grade 8 Mt. Carmel) and Ephrel Faith B. Del Valle (Grade 12 Ophiuchus), who also won Best in Production Number

Third Runner-Up: Chad Aiden Z. Lumongsod (Grade 12 Ophiuchus), who also won Best in Production Number, and Jaraiah Twain M. Bronsal (Grade 8 Nineveh)

Fourth Runner-Up: Jhon Leonard C. Saludar (Grade 11 Aquila) and Paula Mayet E. Ceniza (Grade 10 Syria)

Bianca Aguanta from Grade 12 Phoenix was also recognized for winning Best in Sports Attire.

Following the opening ceremonies, students participated in various indoor and outdoor sports. The games included basketball, volleyball, takraw, table tennis, badminton, chess, futsal and athletics like 50m and 100m dashes, Shot Put and Long Jump.

In addition to the games, the Supreme Secondary Learner’s Government and Project WATCH (We Advocate Time Consciousness and Honesty) officers set up booths for students to enjoy. These included face painting, a radio message booth, a photobooth, a blind date booth and even jail and marriage booths.

The Intramural Games are annual recreational activities within primary and secondary schools pursuant to Republic Act 5708, also known as “The Schools Physical Education and Sports Development Act of 1969.”
