THE Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) announced that the dismissal proceedings against the two officers will go through despite the fact that they stopped reporting to work after testing positive for using illegal narcotics during a surprise drug test in April 2023.

According to CCPO Chief Police Colonel Ireneo Dalogdog the two policemen, whose names are withheld, are nowhere to be found and are considered absent without official leave (AWOL).

He said they immediately subjected the said policemen to an administrative investigation after they turned out to be positive during the confirmatory test.

“Ongoing ang investigation nila. Gani wala na mo report siguro na discourage na tungod sa nahitabo sa ilaha. So mao ni ang strong message nga atong gipaabot sa kapulisan nga nga kita seryoso ta sa atong kampanya labi na sa illegal na droga na mismo sa atong hanay sa kapulisan. Ato gyud paningkamotan nga wala gyuy mahalo no nga nag apil-apil pa sa illegal drugs,” Dalogdog said.

(Their investigation is ongoing. In fact, they did not report, maybe they got discouraged because of what happened to them. So this is the strong message that we are sending to the police that we are serious in our campaign, especially regarding illegal drugs among the police ranks. We will try our best to make sure that no one is involved in illegal drugs).

Last Tuesday, June 20, another 100 police personnel assigned with the CCPO Drug Enforcement Unit had undergone a surprise drug test, the results of which have yet to be released.

Dalogdog said the activity is part of the internal cleansing program of the Philippine National Police to eliminate scalawag cops. (AYB, TPT)
