AT LEAST 21 people were arrested in simultaneous anti-criminality operations by police in Central Visayas on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2023, and Wednesday, Feb. 22.
Arrested were Rodel Canoy, who was accused of murder; Joel Anel Danoso for trafficking illegal drugs; Arnold Canmaong Pais, who yielded illegal drugs; and Arnold Berame Booc, 42, and his companion John Louie Cuizon Saavedra, 29, for carrying suspected shabu.
Canoy was arrested by operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Central Visayas (CIDG 7), CIDG Lapu-Lapu City and Cebu City Mobile Force Company in Barangay Pahina-San Nicolas, Cebu City by virtue of a warrant of arrest dated Feb. 9.
Danoso, who has a pending arrest warrant, was apprehended by the Cebu City Police Office in Barangay Paknaan, Mandaue City.
Pais was caught in a buy-bust operation by the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit in Central Visayas on Tabada Street, Barangay Mambaling, Cebu City. Seized from him were 80 grams of a substance believed to be shabu worth P844,000.
On the second day, two drug personalities, Booc and Saavedra, were nabbed in a buy-bust operation by the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office.
Seized from them were 51 grams of alleged shabu with a standard drug price of P346,800 and P500 in buy-bust money.
Operatives of the Cebu Police Provincial Office and Cebu City Police Office also nabbed 14 gamblers in separate incidents, and two others for possessing firearms and explosives. (AYB /TPT)
