ABOUT 25 cockfighting enthusiasts were arrested by the police in Upper Tabik, Barangay Tabok, Mandaue City on Sunday afternoon, March 19, 2023.
The operatives of Mandaue City Police Station 3 headed by Captain Emmanuel Rabaya raided the illegal cockfighting (tigbakay) in the area that resulted in the arrest of the suspects.
Those arrested were Daniel Cabatingin, Ernesto Catam-isan, Fernando Bongo, Donald Pahid, Rafael Alib, Wilfredo Rendon, Jeffrey Cenencia, Marios Lanurias, John Lloyd Mendoza, Romeo Bayaras, Rolando Alib, Jay Pasaylo, Jose Escandallo, Ariel Cabarobias, Glenn Bongo, France Peter Catam-isan, Reynante Lepalam, Vanvan Perez, Junrey Mortiga, Rolito Rendon, Jeffrey Perater, Arnold Aruta, Ramel Lao, Emerson Acojedo, and Jason Perater.
The raiding team confiscated two live fighting cocks, gambling paraphernalia, and P1,940 in cash from the site.
The suspects will be facing charges for violation of Presidential Decree 1602, the law that provides stiffer penalty for illegal gambling, in relation to PD 449, the Cockfighting Law of 1974. (BBT, TPT)
