27 chapter presidents of solo parents groups in Mandaue City to get honorarium

TWENTY-SEVEN barangay chapter presidents of the Federation of Solo Parents (FSP) in Mandaue City may soon get P1,000 monthly honorarium from the city government.

City Councilor Jimmy Lumapas, the chairman of the Committee on Social Services who authored an ordinance for the said initiative, said on Monday, September 25, that the financial assistance would be given out to the beneficiaries starting next month and the money will be taken from the city’s General Fund Budget.

The beneficiaries may use the funds on allowances, transportation costs, and the purchase of basic necessities.

The ordinance was approved on the first reading during Monday's regular session of the Mandaue City Council.

Lumapas stated that they were also planning to include the FSP members in the cash dole-outs in the near future.

As of September 2023, there are 1,650 single parents in Mandaue City. (HIC)

"We are going to discuss with the mayor to also include the members soon. In the meantime, they (FSP presidents) could use the cash for transportation fare, allowance, and buying essential supplies," said Lumapas. (HIC)
