28 Cebu City policemen to escort contingents for Sinulog sa Carmen

THE Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) has assigned 28 policemen to provide security to the city’s dancing contingents that will participate in Sinulog festival in Carmen town, northern Cebu on Sunday, January 22.

The police personnel will escort the Sinulog contingents on their way to Carmen on Saturday, January 21, and back to Cebu City after the event.

Lieutenant Colonel Janette Rafter, deputy city director for operation of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO), said the deployment of police officers was made upon the request of Mayor Michael Rama.

Rafter said some of the contingents will flock to Carmen on Saturday, while others on the day of Sinulog itself.

The police will escort the contingents in the billeting area and parade route.

Rafter said the some of the policemen will be assigned at the billeting area as the dancers will go to the grandstand to practice, while others will be deployed along the parade route to escort the dancers during the Sinulog festival.

Rafter said the police personnel will be culled from the 11 police stations in the city.

Meanwhile, Cebu Police Provincial Office Chief Colonel Rommel led a walkthrough in Carmen as part of their security preparations for Sunday’s Sinulog sa Carmen, which is expected to be witnessed by local and foreign tourists. (AYB/TPT)
