POLICEMEN in Panglao, Bohol have promised to file a case against a political supporter for alleged vote buying, and the town's vice mayoralty candidate and a laywer for interfering with the law enforcers' attempt to perform arrest on the day of election, May 9, 2022.

Senior Master Sergeant Manuel Rabanar of Panglao Police Station said that around 9:30 a.m. Monday, they received a call from a concerned citizen about the vote buying activity outside a polling place in Barangay Tangnan, Panglao. It was allegedly committed by a certain Toribio Bon, 72 years old.

The policemen immediately responded and was about to bring Bon to the police station for questioning but the latter resisted and tried to grab the M16 rifle of one of the policemen.

During the gun scuffle, a certain Noel Hormachuelos and a lawyer identified as Francis Eric Delambaca reportedly interfered, enabling the suspect to flee without being noticed by the police.

Hormachuelos was reportedly running for the town's vice mayor post.

Rabanar said even though they lost track of Bon, they would still file a case against him for resisting arrest, and Hormachuelos and Delambaca for obstruction of justice. (BBT, TPT)
