A WIDOWER allegedly died from a snake bite in Barili town, southwest Cebu.

Maximo Patajo Lisondra, 61, was already dead when discovered by his son, who visited him in his house around 11:20 a.m. Saturday, October 15, in Purok Mangga, Sitio Kabulihan, mountain barangay of Malolos, Barili town.

Police Staff Sergeant Jeffrey Alpas of Barili Police Station said in an interview with SunStar Cebu that the victim might have been dead since Friday morning as he was already in a state of decomposition.

The victim had a snake bite in his lower right leg.

Dr. Michelle Recto Dago of Barili Rural Health Unit also confirmed that the victim died from a snake bite.

Alpas said the victim's two fighting cocks were also found dead in the area.

One of the roosters had a severed head, while the other had broken bones.

Alpas said the snake might have bit Lisondra as he shooed the reptile away.

"Basin pagkakita niya nagkulod ang bitin sa manok, iyaha sigurong tigbason sa sanggot pero na-unhan siyag paak sa tiil," said Alpas.

(Perhaps when he saw the snake eating the chicken, he must have hacked it with a scythe, but he got beaten on the leg first). (GPL, TPT)
