A woman was caught on CCTV allegedly swindling money out of a sari-sari store by pretending that she was repaid P100 instead of P1,000.

Talisay City police arrested the suspect identified as Genevieve Labuca Abucaño, 23, during a hot pursuit operation shortly after the incident.

Police investigations revealed that Abucaño allegedly went to a sari-sari store in Purok Kamansi, Upper Candulawan, Talisay City around 7 p.m. on Sunday, January 29, 2023, to buy goods and paid P1,000.

She canceled the transaction and took back the payment.

Moments later, she told the store owner that she received only P100. The victim and store owner, Arjay Celis Memoracion, said he gave another P1,000 to the suspect believing it was his honest mistake.

Upon review of the CCTV footages, it was found that the suspect indeed received the P1,000 refund for the transaction and still took another P1,000 from the victim.

The suspect may be facing charges of estafa by use of tricky manipulation. (BBT/DCL)
