Argao coop loses over P100,000 cash to burglar

OVER P100,000 worth of money were carted away by a burglar who ransacked a multipurpose cooperative in Argao town in southern Cebu around 12 a.m. Monday, October 9, 2023.

Police in Argao town said the burglar, who remained unidentified as of Monday afternoon, destroyed the vault where P132,000 cash was kept and also took P28,342 from a drawer of Mandilikit Multipurpose Cooperative, which is located in Barangay Mandilikit, a mountain village in Argao.

Personnel of the cooperative discovered the burglary around 6 a.m. Monday.

Police said that based on the closed circuit television (CCTV) footage, the burglar entered the cooperative’s office by cutting the door’s padlock using a vault cutter.

The burglar then destroyed the vault and the drawer and took the money.

The Argao Police Station is still trying to identify the man through the CCTV footage taken from the establishment. (DVG/LMY)
