THE Women in Literary Arts (Wila)-Cebu will celebrate its 27th founding anniversary on Sept. 22, Saturday, at 5 p.m. at Casa Gorordo Museum in Barangay Parian, Cebu City.

The highlight of the celebration is the premier showing of “Babayeng Sayod,” a documentary film of Cebuano women writers.

Part of the event will be the literary creative performances of Wila-Cebu officers, members and friends.

Wila-Cebu is known to be the only group of women writers in the country.

Formed on Sept. 24, 1991 with the late Erma Cuizon as founding chairperson, it continues to hold regular meetings and literary activities and calls for women writers to join its fold and keep the fire burning in the field of literary arts. Wila-Cebu’s incumbent set of officers are Joanalyn Gabales-chairperson, Desiree Balota-vice chairperson, Lei Ann Rama-secretary, Lilia Tio-treasurer, and Atty. Aurora Peñaflor-press relations officer.

Last April 28, Wila-Cebu received the Pedro Bukaneg Award from the Unyon ng mga Manunulat sa Pilipinas at the Gerry Roxas Foundation Training Center in Barangay Dayao, Roxas City.
