CASE over.

The traffic enforcer who was hit by a pick-up truck while manning a traffic in Balamban town on Wednesday afternoon, May 18, 2022, had already agreed to settle the case.

Jovey Ramos, 37, a traffic enforcer from Barangay Cambuhawe, Balamban signed the amicable settlement with Bernardo "Enad" Ricafort, 55, of Barangay Pondol and

driver of pick-up Toyota Hilux (GAF 1656) after the latter agreed to shoulder the medical expenses of the victim.

Ricafort was freed by the police later at 10 p.m.

Police Corporal Monchito Clarin of Balamban Police Station said in an interview with Sunstar Cebu that Ramos was manning a traffic along an intersection in front of

St. Francis de Assisi Church in Barangay Baliwagan when he was hit by Ricafort at 5:05 p.m. on Wednesday.

Ricafort tried to avoid the trisikad (pedal operated bicycle with sidecar) ahead of him as he turned left but instead hit the traffic enforcer who was standing in the middle

of the road as shown in the CCTV footage.

The victim's left leg was ran over by the left front wheel of the vehicle.

Ramos was immediately taken to Balamban Provincial Hospital for treatment.

His left leg needs to be cemented to heal the broken bones.

Clarin said the driver admitted that he did not intentionally hit the victim.

The police corporal said reckless driving may have caused the accident. (GPL, TPT)
