IN celebration of the Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM), a free breast checkup and screening will be offered every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. for the entire October at the Parkmall in Mandaue City.
City Councilor Cynthia Cinco Remidio, chairman of the Committee on Women and Family, said on Monday, October 2, 2023, said that the celebration aims to honor those who promote breast cancer awareness and the value of early detection.
"It is better to detect those (cancerous) lumps early because when it's difficult to be treated when it’s already in stage 4, This applies to both men and women. The initiative came from our first lady Sara Walker Cortes," said Remidio.
Activities include BCAM lighting ceremony on Friday, October 6, at the Mandaue City Hall and a lay forum on October 12 at the Mandaue City Sports and Cultural Complex. (HIC)
