Cargo vessel runs aground off Lauis Ledge

A FOREIGN cargo vessel ran aground at the vicinity of Lauis Ledge Light House in Talisay City, Saturday morning, August 3, 2019.

Lieutenant Junior Grade MJ Encina, information officer of Philippine Coast Guard-Visayas, said the vessel m/v Arikun was bound for Cebu International Port before it ran aground at around 7: 30 a.m while entering the Traffic Separation Scheme.

“The vessel has 18 crews on board and carries 4,210 tons of wheat. We have yet to check any oil spills,” Encina said.

The said cargo vessel reportedly carries 287, 167 liters of fuel.

As of this writing, members of the Marine Environmental Protection and Coast Guard Divers are still checking on the incident. (SunStar Cebu)
