TALK about squad goals.

Good friends and classmates from Cebu Doctors’ University took the Top 3 spots in the Respiratory Therapy Licensure Examinations held recently. Aside from them, four other CDU graduates made it to the Top 10 list.

Megan Ashley Bartido topped the list after garnering an 89.75 percent rating. Jean Trisha Epe and Francine Varela Solis, two of Megan’s closest friends at the university came in second and third. Epe finished with an 89.5 average score, Solis had 89.25 percent.

Bartido said it was a feat she still finds hard to believe.

She said she was about to board a plane going to Manila when she found out that she topped the exams.

“It was so surreal. I was crying the whole time. Awkward kaayo but I couldn’t contain myself,” Bartido said, adding that “The exams were hard. I didn’t know what to expect. I owe everything to my mentors, professors, and my school, CDU. They were really supportive with me.”

Bartido said that her recipe for success is to “trust God and pray. Love what you're doing. Never memorize -- understand.”

Bartido admitted that she took up Accountancy before shifting to Respiratory Therapy stating that something ticked inside her one day -- a calling to help those who need it.

“Seeing people survive certain illnesses is the biggest accomplishment in the world. When I was young, my father passed away. Being the breadwinner of the family, I owe every portion of my success to my mom who supported our family through thick and thin,” Bartido said.

Solis admitted she is still speechless to be part of the 100 percent passers from CDU.

“We are all so close as a batch. It was hard juggling everything. From research to internship. We had classes to worry about. We study together. We are humbled that there are seven of us in the top 10,” Solis said.

Also in the Top 10 are Hanna Maria Claros (88.25 percent, 7th place), Chalylle Carlisle Stephanie Nueva (87.5 percent, 9th place), Darlene Jane Cabataña (87.25 percent, 10th place), and Daphne Tricia Caseñas (87.25 percent, 10th place). (JGS)
