Cebu archbishop positive for Covid-19

CEBU Archbishop Jose Palma was brought to a private hospital in Cebu City Thursday night, February 18, 2021, after he was found positive for Sars-CoV-2, the virus that causes the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

Msgr. Joseph Tan, spokesperson for the Archdiocese of Cebu, confirmed the matter on Friday, February 19.

Tan said Palma is currently recuperating at the Perpetual Succour Hospital in Cebu City.

Tan assured that Palma is not in critical condition and is only experiencing fatigue with mild cough.

Palma's close contacts have been informed about his situation and were advised to isolate themselves as a precautionary measure.

"The archbishop remains in a stable condition. Let us all pray for his steady and speedy recovery," Tan added.

Palma led a private mass at his official residence on Àsh Wednesday, February 17, with only his staff in attendance. (JKV)
