THE Bureau of Jail Management and Penology said they did not see any loophole in the actions of JO1 Myron Garcia, who shot dead a man who tried to sneak contraband into the Cebu City Jail.
Chief Supt. Arnold Buenacosa, the BJMP 7 regional director, said that their investigation on the incident is still ongoing.
"According to the PNP, in the criminal aspect, wala naman pong lumutang na (there was no) complainant from the side of the family of the victims. In the administrative side, we haven't seen any loophole on the part of our personnel. Being the regional director, I can say that my personnel acted properly," Buenacosa told reporters.
Garcia was relieved from his post at the Cebu City Jail and was reassigned to the regional headquarters.
Buenacosa said that Garcia only did what a jail officer should do.
"He has to protect our facility there. It was his duty," he said.
The regional director said that Garcia's life may be in danger because of the incident. (JOB)
