CEBU City Mayor Edgardo Labella posted on his Facebook page that a dedicated bicycle lane will soon be established in the city.
“Dedicated bicycle lane. Coming very soon in Cebu City,” wrote Labella in a Facebook post Sunday, June 7, 2020.
Under general community quarantine, public transportation in Cebu City is still limited.
On Saturday, Labella suspended the mandatory registration of bicycles and the prohibition on their use on Cebu City streets effective Saturday, June 6, 2020. The mayor also suspended indefinitely the requirement of driver's identification card (ID) for drivers of public utility vehicles plying the streets.
Labella’s order supersedes Cebu City Transportation Office spokesperson Ronnie Nadera’s reminder to have bikes registered as a measure to ensure safety on the road.
