THE Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO) caught 6,317 traffic violators in the first half of March 2021, which is 11 percent more than the citation tickets, or 5,674, CCTO issued in the same period in February 2021.

Traffic violations included: not following no stopping signs, illegally parking by the sidewalk, having defective plate numbers and headlights, and lacking mudguards.

From March 1 to 15, 2021, CCTO impounded 10 e-bikes, 11 traysikad, 25 four-wheeled vehicles, one tricycle, six trucks, and one public utility jeepney.

CCTO also clamped 338 illegal parked vehicles.

CCTO said it will continue to follow the mandate of the Department of the Interior and Local Government in terms of road clearing operations.

The department also said that doing this is important because for every illegally parked vehicle seen on the road is a one-point deduction in grade for the local government unit. (REV/With NRC)
