CEBU reached an important milestone in its vaccination efforts as it breached the one-million mark for the first dose of Covid-19 vaccines on Friday, September 10, 2021.

As of September 9, 2021, 997,652 individuals in Cebu have received their first dose of Covid-19 vaccine, according to Dr. Mary Jean Loreche, Visayas Covid-19 Vaccination Operations Center (VVOC).

Meanwhile, fully vaccinated individuals in Cebu now reached 666,391 as of September 9, 2021.

As this developed, government agencies and non-government organizations joined hands to ramp up vaccination efforts in Cebu province’s local government units (LGUs).

During a meeting organized by the Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas (OPAV), it was decided that Cebu will be divided into several sectors for a more focused vaccination campaign. There will be six sectors in the north and seven sectors in the south.

This move aims to ensure well-run and safe vaccination programs in various local government units.

The main goal of this strategy is to achieve herd immunity for Cebu the fastest possible time.

These efforts are spearheaded by Philippine College of Physicians, Cebu Medical Society, the All Terrain Medical Relief Organization, the Regional IATF through Gen. Melquiades Feliciano and the Department of Health (DOH) Central Visayas.
