CH workers to get P10K Charter Day bonus

THE 5,400 casual and regular employees of the Cebu City Hall have a reason to celebrate the City’s 83th Charter Day on Monday, Feb. 24, 2020.

They each will receive P10,000 as bonus from the City Government.

The budget for this is included in the first supplemental budget that was submitted to the council’s committee on budget and finance, headed by Majority Floor Leader Councilor Raymond Garcia, on Monday during a special session.

Once approved, the money will be released to the employees.

Dated March 3, 1997, Local Budget Circular 65 of the Department of Budget and Management provides the guidelines on the granting of an anniversary bonus in the local government.

Item 4.3 of the circular’s rules and regulations states: “The anniversary bonus herein authorized shall be granted only during milestone years which refers to the 15th anniversary and to every fifth year thereafter of the founding of the local government unit.”

Item 4.3.1 further provides that “officials and employees may be granted anniversary bonus only if the LGU where they are employed has been in existence for at least 15 years and has not yet granted any anniversary bonus prior to the effectivity of Executive Order 316, and have rendered at least one year service in the same LGU as of the date of the milestone year.”

Garcia urged City Administrator Floro Casas Jr. to prepare the necessary documents needed for the release of the requested amount.

Casas said the P54 million would be taken from the City’s savings that amount to around P20 billion.

Among the recipients of the Charter Day bonus are the mayor, vice mayor, the 18 city councilors, department heads, and other staff, including those who hold the lowest regular and casual positions. (PAC / RSR)
