A COFFEE shop employee escaped unharmed after he was able to fall down while being shot at by a gunman inside the store in Urgello Street, Barangay Sambag 1, Cebu City.
The victim was identified as Elmer Suralba Danong, a resident of the said place.
Danong said he could identify the attacker because they were looking at each other prior to the shooting occurred on Thursday evening, June 1.
He continued by saying that someone might have been envious of him after the store owner had sacked the previous worker and placed him in his position.
Danong said he was doing his regular task at the store’s counter when he noticed that the attacker pulled out a handgun and aimed it in his direction.
He said he immediately sought cover at the counter when the gunman opened fire.
The victim said that by being saved from the incident, he had been given a second chance at life.
“Wala ra koy tatsa mao nang nagpasalmat gyud ko sa Ginoo oi. Actually sa pagka human nako nibati ko’g kahadlok pero dihang sa pagpusil nako wala pako ato nahadlok gyud,” Danong said.
(I thanked God because I am unharmed. Actually, I didn't feel afraid till after the incident).
The group of Chief Master Sergeant Jeptha Jumawan from the Abellana Police Station searched the area for any CCTV cameras to identify the perpetrator. (BBT, TPT)
